Frequently asked questions
Hypnotherapy & Psychotherapy
Therapy sessions involve solution-focused hypnotherapy and psychotherapy; this is a powerful and effective combination of psychotherapy and clinical hypnosis. These sessions aim to empower you with lasting tools to take back control in your life, find freedom from any negative experiences of your past (or trauma from your past) and find meaningful, positive change in your life.
This includes solution focused therapy and elements of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), gentle trauma-processing techniques, positive reframing and relaxing trance (hypnosis).
Therapeutic Yoga & Somatics
Therapeutic yoga and somatic sessions are centred around connection - helping you to connect with your body - and understanding the connection between the mind and the body. We work together to help you to connect with your body, your nervous system, your breath, your emotions and thoughts. These sessions typically include emotional and physical check ins, trauma-sensitive somatic practices, grounding techniques, restorative yoga postures, breathwork practices, aspects of mindfulness, yoga nidra meditation and deep relaxation.
The beauty of solution focused hypnotherapy is how fast-acting it can be - often taking just 6-12 sessions on average.
Sessions are normally held weekly in the beginning; this is great for helping you to build in consistency. Sessions will sometimes move to fortnightly, or monthly should you wish.
How many sessions, and for how long, really does vary depending on the individual and what you'd like support with.
As an example:
Some people want specific support around a fear or phobia - this usually only requires 3 sessions.
Some people have a longer block of sessions - for something like chronic anxiety or panic attacks - and once they feel they can manage themselves and are back in control, they may have the occasional "top-up" session to maintain the work they've done and stay on top of things.
Clinical hypnosis is a very safe state of relaxation, and an evidence-based therapeutic technique.
In a relaxed trance state we are more open to positive suggestions, helping us to think more creatively about the issues bothering us, helping us to take action and create changes in our lives, and achieve the things we wish to achieve. Throughout the hypnosis, you will remain fully aware and in control, while I help you work through issues such as stress, anxiety, phobias, or unwanted habits. Sessions are aimed at empowering you to achieve positive, lasting changes.
During the sessions, I help guide you into a state of deep relaxation using gentle hypnosis techniques, allowing you to access your subconscious mind more effectively.
The subconscious mind is the part of the brain that operates below the level of conscious awareness, storing memories, habits, and emotions that influence our thoughts, behaviours, and decisions. Patterns of thinking and behaving are often rooted in the subconscious, often from early childhood, and these can shape our beliefs and sometimes lead to self-sabotaging behaviours or unhelpful thinking patterns or limiting self beliefs that keep you feeling "stuck".
Absolutely not! We have stage "hypnosis" to thank for this myth. You remain fully in control and aware during the entire trance session, you have complete control over what you choose to think or believe - most clients tell me this is their favourite part of the session!

It's an absolute passion of mine to support people, through therapy, to live the life they want. I am in awe of our capacity, as humans, to experience life and all it throws at us - how we can adapt, learn and move forwards to lead the lives we wish.
I am endlessly fascinated by how our brains work and how we can change not only how we behave but how we think. This can be incredibly powerful, especially when it comes to changing long-standing, unhelpful behaviours or negative thinking patterns. Our capacity to change how we experience our day to day life is phenomenal (no matter what your age is) and we can live a more freeing life!
Every single client I work with continually deepens my passion for this work.
Due to my work and personal experience, I’ve always been drawn to the field of mental health and working with people to feel better in themselves and have hope. I personally have used solution focused hypnotherapy for pregnancy/birth. I found it to be incredibly effective and so empowering in helping me to feel in control - so much so that I decided to become a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist!
Separately, yoga has been a grounding force, a joy and a regulating part of my life for nearly 2 decades. I remain curious about the deep power that yoga and somatic movement can have in helping us connect to our bodies, to our breath, to our mood, emotional and physical wellbeing - I am endlessly fascinated by the mind-body connection and the incredible capacity of our nervous system.
I am a trauma-sensitive yoga facilitator with a special interest in:
the healing power of somatic movement;
how trauma can be held in the body;
how hormones affect both physical and mental wellbeing;
the benefits of yoga for anxiety, stress and chronic pain.
